Abstrait:

For the design of the new Storstrøm Bridge a detailed derailment and overturning analysis during ship impact is required. The analysis includes nonlinear soil structure interaction, nonlinear ship indention curves, and multi-body train models. The number of possible combinations of ship type, impact location, train type, and train location at impact make the nonlinear analysis very time consuming. The analysis is therefore separated into a nonlinear ship impact and a linear train analysis. The method is used to investigate the train structure interaction during ship impact. The analysis is carried out for a range of ship types, impact locations, train types and train locations at impact. The results shown that derailment and overturning depend mainly on resonance between lateral bridge modes and the roll and sway modes of the train, and the modal damping of the train modes.
