Abstrait: |
Similar to bridges, long span roofs of stadium/airports/arena are susceptible to wind-induced vibrations. Though expected mean wind speed at such low heights is not significant, associated turbulence fluctuations will be higher at low heights. Further, any complex roof geometry can alter the wind effects considerably and the prediction of such effects may require a model scale study in the wind tunnel. The role of wind tunnels in assessing the wind effects on long span roofs is described in this paper with the help of few case studies. |
