"Uncoated steel when in contact with the atmosphere, water and soil is subject to corrosion, which can cause damage. To avoid damage from corrosion, steel structures are usually coated to withstand corrosion stresses over the life of the structure. "- ISO 12944 This paper presents Anticorrosive coating in Metal Bridges including different surface preparations namely by abrasive blasting to grade Sa 2 ½ and very high-pressure water jetting to the grade Wa 2 ½. Depending on the type of surface preparation, different painting schemes and thicknesses used for the Anticorrosive Protection of Metal Structures will be presented. D. Maria Pia Bridge in Porto and Eiffel Bridge, in Viana do Castelo will be used as case study for High- pressure water jetting works. Regarding the surface preparation with abrasive jet blasting, several corrosion protection works will be presented in Metal Bridges. There will be also, a discussion about delivering these works in the railway context. |
