This paper presents the results of cyclic load tests for some beam-to-column joint specimens. Each of the specimens consisted of a cantilever beam and columns. While one specimen contained a reinforcing rib plate, the others did not. The results indicated that the way of reinforcement did improve the ultimate bending strength, owing to the increase of bending moment at web plate in of the beam-end connection. Moreover, to facilitate the structural design of beams connected to columns of large width- thickness ratio, a way of evaluating the strength of the reinforced beam-end connection using a simple formula was proposed. |
