Abstrait: | The present study aims to clarify the use of lithic tools for stone working in pharaonic Egypt, particularly during the Old and Middle Kingdoms. It is based on ongoing research in the calcite (also known as “Egyptian alabaster”) quarries at the site of Hatnub in Middle Egypt. The tools which are the subject of this study were those which were used at the beginning of the ancient production process. |
