Abstrait:

The paper deals with the results and recommendations based on experimental programmes.

The first experimental programme presents the strengthening effect of RC column by jacketing with new RC. The methods of increasing bond between old and new concrete analysed are: no bonding agent; surface chemical bonding agent; mechanical fixed connectors; chemical fixed connectors.

The second experimental programme refers to a new procedure for strengthening of masonry walls. The test elements are erected as models, scale 1:2, and represents shear walls with window opening. In the first stage the models are tested at vertical and horizontal actions. Finally, the models are strengthened with different types of bars / rods (Romanian High Adherence Steel Bar; Brutt Helical System – Brutt Saver BHS) as near-surface-mounted-reinforcement and Fibre Reinforced Polymer Systems CFRP and retested.
