Abstrait: |
The objective of this research is to study the dynamic characteristics of longitudinally asymmetrical multi-span bridges by using the current design of the Chacao Bridge, a longitudinally asymmetrical multi-span suspension bridge that will be constructed in Chile. With a total length of 2,75 km and a maximum span of 1.155 m it will be the suspension structure with the longest span in Latin America. To obtain the mode shapes and frequencies, a three-dimensional finite element model is developed using the software ANSYS. Results showed that the first transverse frequency is 0,0635 Hz and the first vertical frequency is 0,1130 Hz. The obtained dynamic characteristics are compared with those of a symmetrical multi-span suspension bridge with similar characteristics. Finally, a parametric study to analyse the influence of the central pylon in the dynamic characteristics of a longitudinally asymmetrical multi-span suspension bridge is conducted. |
