Abstrait:

The purpose of this paper is to develop advanced lightweight structure called GB-SLAB (Green Ball based lightweight biaxial SLAB) which is a kind of two-way hollow core slab system. The advanced slab system was patented and awarded by Korean government in the year of 2010. Green Ball (like plastic ball) is inserted between the top and bottom reinforcement before pouring the

concrete. Green ball makes the cavities in the concrete and these holes can reduce the weight of slab. The reduction of slab’s weight makes lighter structure and reduces the earthquake load. The reduction of load can minimize or reduce the size and materials of column and foundation. Based

on the analytical and experimental results, the paper explains why GB-SLAB is lighter but stronger and additionally more cost-effective and easier to install rather than traditional two-way hollow core slabs.
