Designing tall, long and light building and structures touches the boundaries of structural engineering. But this does not only deal with technical limits, this also needs to include social and economic requirements. As engineers overestimate the rational - calculating - part of their work and negotiate the intuitive and joyful part of creativity in engineering. Thus a paradigm shift is necessary and therefore a new concept of teaching is presented in this paper. Beside others this paper focuses design critique as a method to opens up a dialog about different structural approaches. |
