The new footbridge Vila-Seca (town near Tarragona) is part of the work of the 'Raval de la Mar', a Project for the construction of an avenue that connects the center of Vila-Seca with la Pineda, the beach area quarter. The 'Raval de la Mar' is a new road of 3.50 km long which includes the building of two railway bridges and the footbridge, the budget of whole project is 23,300,000 € co-funded by the Generalitat (Catalan government) and the Tarragona Provincial administration.

The footbridge is a 281.00 m long continuous steel-concrete composite beam supported on 7 piers and 2 the abutments. The deck has a triangular steel box section with double cell. Structural steel S-355 has been used, while for cast in situ slab platform reinforced concrete was used. It is divided in 8 spans of 24.50 + 34.00 + 38.00 + 56.00 + 38.00 + 34.00 + 32.00 + 24.50 m. In order to optimize the materials and emphasis the beam slender, the cross section is variable depth 1.00 to 2.00 m.

In this context and with a footbridge of such size the visual impact on the landscape can’t be ignored. It has designed a structure with fine aesthetics lines and with some symbolism associated emphasizes it.
