In reality, any parts of a long-span bridge can be damaged and deteriorated by many reasons. As a result, serious problems can be affected for not only the current health but also the future performance of structure and be difficult detected in general. This paper focused on how to detect damage of long-span bridge by comparing the different local frequencies between healthy and damaged condition of structural wind-induced response. The obtained results showed that wind- induced response can be used easily and exactly for detecting moderate damages of a long-span bridge using few sensors around damaged area. Lessons archived from this study are expected not only to maintain this bridge but also to improve our understanding of the real bridge performance as well as to provide useful feedbacks for future design. |
