Abstrait:

Cracow, a city in the south of Poland, situated on the Vistula river, is said to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe (the Old City is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list). It has a population of approximately 740 000 and, like many other Polish cities, Cracow suffers from permanent traffic problems. To reduce these problems, Cracow Municipal Council announced in 1998 a competition for an architectural – urbanistic concept for the Zwierzyniecki Bidge. The new bridge should connect two districts lying to the south-west part of the city and would cross the Vistula at the area of the Bielansko-Tyniecki Landscape Park and would be an element of the Old City façade.
