The Xupu Bridge is the third cable-stayed bridge to be constructed in the greater Shanghai area in recent years. When completed, it will form an important part of Shanghai Outer Ring Road. The two previous cable-stayed crossings in the Shanghai region, the Nanpu and Yangpu bridges, were steel-concrete composite designs. Given the considerable experience accumulated in this type of structure, it was decided to use the same method for the Xupu Bridge. The main span is 590 m long. The main pylons are A-shaped, rising to a height of 217 m. The deck is 36 m wide for eight lanes of traffic, with a 0.75 m maintenance on each side. |
