Abstrait: |
The railway station of 's-Hertogenbosch incorporates two historical station roofs, the only remaining part of the actual station building which was destroyed during the Second World War. In order to prolong the life of the structures by another century and to make future maintenance possible, problems discovered during the restoration had to be solved. This article deals with the historical design, with the structural and corrosion problems on the structure and the resulting damage, and describes the restoration. This restoration project was precipitated by the construction of a totally new station, a pedestrian bridge and a third roofed platform. |
