The Banatul Museum, known as Huniade-Castle, is one of the most important historical buildings in Timisoara, Romania. Poor soil conditions and soil water levels had affected the castle building which was re-erected or rehabilitated many times. In the case of rehabilitating an historical building, the final decision has to take into account the architectural requirements, among them, the geometrical proportions and the principal facades. These requirements have been fulfilled by the rehabilitation project. The rehabilitation solution for the Banatul Museum building is based in the idea of enlarging the structural stiffness of the building by increasing the physical and mechanical properties of some component members of the structure. |
