Abstrait:

Jacks Run Bridge had to be rebuilt in one year instead of the usual two to three. So the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spearheaded the quickest replacement of a major bridge in the state’s history. Building the new structure on the existing alignment eliminated major right of way and environmental impact negotiations. Other hallmarks of the fast track design and construction included speeding design time to 30 days, squeezing bidding for a contractor to 12 days and contracting for winter construction. The three-span plate girder bridge carries four traffic lanes and a 5 ft pedestrian walkway. Two piers, 182 and 142 ft high, carry the bridge above Jacks Run.
