Completed in August 2002, the Norway Trade Fairs exhibition centre is one of Norway's largest construction projects on land, with a total cost of about EUR 120 million. The main challenge in the structural design was to combine the demands of the client in relation to strictly limited budgets. This was done by establishing a free span of 60 m hall with the possibility to subdivide the hall into four equal parts using folder walls; designing the roof preferably without trusses; handling the structural aspects of the large main walls, taking into consideration the soil conditions and the ground settlements and keeping a strong focus on the architectural idea throughout the detailing process. |
