Abstrait: |
The construction of two twin hangars with net internal dimensions of 60 m by 40 m, to be used for the garaging of private aircraft, was foreseen in the project for the enlargement of West Linate Airport in Milan. The requirement for two separate hangars was dictated by operational and safety reasons. For the same reasons, each hangar had to be completely independent both from the point of view of services and management. The philosophy of turning design constraints into incentives and strong points is the guiding concept which inspired the structural scheme of the new hangars at West Linate Airport. The hangars at West Linate fuse architecture and structure into a strong technological statement that is most appropriate for the new air terminal. |
