The new Indoor Sports Stadium at Surat is a totally enclosed, fully air-conditioned, multi-purpose facility with a seating capacity of 7,000. It is 30 m high and 100 m in diameter, with a playing area of 2,100 m². This lotus shaped building provides modern facilities for all types of indoor sports and games, as well as concerts, seminars, meetings and other social and cultural events. The ground floor, below the seating tiers, accommodates entrance foyers, lounges, players' changing room, a press room, stores, etc. A foyer level 3 m above the ground floor accommodates snack bars, toilets, etc. The sports arena is provided with a flexible wooden flooring for the comfort and safety of the athletes. When completed, the stadium complex will also have a dormitory building for visiting athletes, a health club, restaurant and swimming pool.
