Indicators for the Management of Earth‐Retaining Structures

The Portuguese national road and railway Network managed by Infraestruturas de Portugal, S.A. comprises over 20,000 earth‐retaining structures throughout Portugal. The company seeks to improve processes through a dedicated management system that aligns with best asset management practices. The system involves data collection, analysis, and action planning based on inspection observations and analysis of structure condition and criticality. The resulting level of risk informs prioritization of subsequent actions. This work focuses on the indicators and processes supporting risk‐informed decision‐making for earth retaining structures.
