The Höga Kusten Bridge is a suspension bridge with a main span of 1210 m, an overall length of 1800 m, and a minimum clearance under the main span of 40 m. Two environmental factors played essential roles in the design of the bridge: the beautiful landscape surrounding the bridge; and the winter climate in the region. Therefore, a conventional three-span suspension bridge from shore to shore was chosen, and special architectural treatment was given to the shapes of the pylons and the cable anchorages. Bids were only accepted if they were based on the bridge design developed by the Swedish National Road Administration. |
