Some fundamental, yet not well-understood aspects of the Cb coefficient are discussed. This paper also documents the technical basis for the Cb coefficient and discusses the historical changes to the Cb coefficient from the 1989 ASD Specification through the 1999 LRFD Specification. Answers are provided to the most frequently asked questions concerning the use and interpretation of the Cb expressions found in the AISC Specifications. |
