In 1991, in the course of the festival celebrating Switzerland's 700th anniversary, the Heureka National Research Exhibition was held in Zurich. A large tent structure was erected to protect the greater part of the exhibition and its visitors against the wind and weather. In addition, the attractive shape of a membrane structure was hoped not only to be eye-catching, but also to have an inviting effect on the public. For the first time, the tops of the masts were to serve as viewing platforms, connected to each other by suspension bridges. |
