A semi-analytical method is developed for static and dynamic analyses of three-dimensional elastic solids composed of prismatic subregions. Based on a prism distributed transfer function formulation, the method is capable of synthesizing multi-body continua, and at the same time maintains the high accuracy and efficiency of analytical solutions. The proposed method is unique in that it systematically generates closed-form, semi-analytical regional solutions that can be used for multi-body assembly. Unlike many analytical approaches, the method does not depend on any series expansion, and is valid for arbitrary external loads and boundary conditions. Numerical examples are provided to justify the advantages of the proposed method. |
