Cold‐formed steel (CFS) products are extremely versatile and can be used in multiple applications. Recent experimental tests by the authors have shown that the application of composite columns comprising CFS built‐up sections filled with lightweight concrete is feasible and can lead to substantial improvements in structural performance. However, there are no design guidelines specifically for these columns. Moreover, the applicability of the available design methods to predict the axial load‐bearing capacity of these types of columns has yet to be investigated; this is, therefore, the focus of the present study. |
