After a seven-year construction period, the Seo-hae Bridge was opened to traffic in November 2000. In size, it is the biggest in Korea. It is also the longest bridge ever constructed in Korea. In the world, it has the fifteenth longest main span for cable-stayed bridge, and lies in fourth place for a composite cable-stayed bridge. The most important fact is that this monumental work was completed by Korean professionals through all the steps of planning, design, and construction. The experience of the Seo-hae bridge project is the pride of Korean civil engineers and marks a turning point in bridge engineering in the country both in quality and in scale. |
