Abstrakt: | This article reconstructs the history of two main domains in the technical development of metal-framed windows and glass: greenhouses for botanical and culinary purposes, and domestic, industrial, commercial, and exhibition buildings. The use of cast iron and rolled metal profiles, brazed and welded mechanical joints, and the transformation of artisanal skills into mass production processes made it possible to meet the needs of architects and owners. |
