Cable is one of the most important parts and plays a major role in the structure of cable-stayed bridges. Monitoring and evaluating cable tension is a practical task contributing to cable-stayed bridges' stable and safe operation. During operation, there are many different causes for the loss of tension in the cable. This study performed a field test to measure the tension in the Can Tho cable- stayed bridge. The comparison results with the as-built document show that, after more than a decade of operation, there has been a tension loss in all cables of Can Tho cable-stayed bridge. There are many causes for this situation. An overall analysis based on the survey conditions from the bridge will be carried out. From there, the main cause of tension loss of Can Tho cable-stayed bridge can be determined. This contributes to providing effective solutions for the bridge to work well and sustainably in the future. |
