The construction of the Izmit Bay Suspension Bridge has started in January 2013 to be completed early 2016. The pre-fabricated parallel wire strands (PPWS) which consist of the main cable are pulled from the north anchorage to the south anchorage by looped hauling system on the catwalk and placed on cable saddles. The lower cable clamp connecting the hanger rope and upper cable clamp are delivered to the proper position by the carriage using the tramway system or main cable simultaneously and installed before deck construction to be started on the middle of June, 2015. |
