Abstrakt: | Footbridges are special structures. They have less restrictions than highway or railway bridges. This allows curved-shaped plans, an appropriate response to the demand for better links to an existing network of footpaths and more fluid courses in plan. Especially for cable-supported bridges, predestinated for larger spans, curvature enables the bridge designer to develop efficient structures, without reducing the lightness and transparency of cable-supported bridges. Interesting and exciting structures are possible which – stretched out into the third dimension – demonstrate a certain, spatial dynamic. |
