River-Diversion Intake Structures for the Mohale Dam, Lesotho

The design of Mohale Dam, a 145-m-high concrete-faced rockfill dam, commenced in January 1996, and the construction contract was awarded in March 1998. Construction began in June 1998, and initial work focused on the construction of two river-diversion tunnels and their associated structures, including the intake structures that are the subject of this article.
