Dam blown up in Russian-occupied Ukraine causes widespread flooding | DW News
Ukraine and Russia are each accusing the other of destroying the Kakhovka dam, in the south of the country. Evacuations are underway. This comes as Ukraine says it's conducting offensive operations around the city of Bakhmut. Videos show water surging through a collapsed wall at the Nova Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine. Local authorities have urged residents of villages downstream to evacuate. Ukraine's military accused Russia of blowing up the dam, while Russian officials and state media blamed Ukraine. The dam reservoir supplies water for drinking, agriculture, and for cooling the nearby Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
