A Sacred Space

Cambridge Central Mosque construction has reached the half way mark. "A sacred space with an ancient, timeless feel and built with the latest technologies." This November 2017, the Blumer-Lehmann team led a ‘topping out’ ceremony to celebrate the hoisting into place of our feature dome. We have now reached the symbolic half-way point of our historic project! A heavy-duty crane was hired for the occasion and the delicate operation passed off without a hitch. The dome is fabricated from cross-laminated timber harvested from sustainably-managed forests. Over the coming weeks the contractors will add a gold-coloured cladding material and a finial with a crescent.
