Abstrakt: | The architecture of the Seaside and Mountain summer holiday camps built in Abruzzo which began to appear in the thirties represents a significant form of cultural heritage for its testimonial value of the administrative reorganization processes that affected this area and its documentary value of the events affecting modern Italian architecture and its implications with the regime. In the specific shape of the holiday camps, these implications found their full and articulated expression in the definition of formal and construction codes expressed not just under a modernist light. From project design to construction, the three holiday camps in Abruzzo show the significant and diversified results of technical experimentation on reinforced concrete linked to a mainly masonry tradition, according to different technical methods and construction solutions. Through an analysis of direct sources combined with indirect ones, this document wishes to reconstruct the relationships that linked the project to the implementation process in the particular context of reference and in relation to a wider national scenario. |
