The latest digital technologies can be better utilised to support the structural design process by augmenting and complementing the engineer. A structural design toolbox has been developed that gives instantaneous analysis feedback in order to provide the user with insight into a structure’s performance. Subsequently, the toolbox allows the user to describe the design process as a series of justified design choices. Past development efforts around StructuralComponents have focused on proof of concept and subsequently extensible toolbox architecture with an independent computational core framework. As the general concept and analysis capabilities have been extensively described in two previous publications, this paper will give a more in-depth explanation on the design composition and argumentation, and describes some of the latest functional developments. |
