Abstrakt:

Electrical insulators play a crucial role in power transmission lines by preventing undesired current flow. In certain applications, such as overhead railway lines, these insulators also serve as cantilevered structural elements that support the overall system. The failure of a porcelain insulator in this context can lead to disruptions in rail system operation, causing delays in passenger mobility. This study presents a comprehensive investigation into the structural performance of cantilevered porcelain posts used in overhead railway transmission lines. The experimental testing, conducted in a laboratory setting, aimed to evaluate the insulators' structural integrity under various conditions. The outcomes of this study shed light on different failure modes and performance characteristics observed across insulators. This information is crucial for improving the design and maintenance practices related to cantilevered porcelain posts in overhead rail systems.
