Steel roof structure of ice-hockey arena in Czech town Chomutov is suspended by set of eleven twins of prestressed tendons anchored to main arch, situated above longitudinal axis of the stadium. Main arch is the steel tube of diameter 1m, span 120m and rise 28m. Suspended roof is the lattice structure curved in two directions. Prestressing of the tendons, carried out on completed structure, favourably redistributed internal forces in the arch and lattice trusses of the roof. Forces in tendons were measured by strain gauges commonly with frequency analysis method and monitoring of the structure geometry was carried out simultaneously. Prestressing procedure was optimized using linear programming method with boundary conditions. The structural system introduced maximum clear internal space, commonly with saving area of the cladding, and minimized cost of the arena and future expenses to heating, air conditioning and maintenance. |
