The footbridge, designed by Eng. Silvio Caregaro Negrin, was manufactured between 1911 and 1912: it is situated over Bacchiglione river connecting via Nazario Sauro with via Giuriolo and piazza Matteotti square in Vicenza and originally it was a private manufacture pertaining to villa Piovene (villa Salviati, nowadays). The bridge is one of the very few examples of Liberty style steel structures in Veneto having remarkable historical and artistic value. As many steel structures built in the XIX century it is a 3 span cable suspended through truss bridge. The intermediate span is about 21 m long, while the side ones are 5 m long. The main trusses are divided into longitudinal bays, having each an average length equal to 1.25 m. |
