Predicting the inelastic hysteretic behavior of shear-critical or flexure-shear critical RC columns including flexural stiffness still remains challenging. In this paper, two kinds of lumped shear springs are modelled to simulate the inelastic behavior of a flexure-shear critical RC column using the finite-element analysis platform of OpenSees. One is the conventional shear spring; the other is the proposed new shear spring considering the load-deformation behavior of cracked reinforced concrete subjected to shear based on the Modified Compression Field Theory. Both shear springs can simulate the shear-related hysteretic behavior of the RC column. The numerical response of the proposed shear spring matches the experimental result closer than that of the conventional one. |
