Precast Concrete Segmental Bridges (PCSBs) tend to incorporate bonded internal prestressing tendons and unbonded external tendons. Each type of tendons has different characteristics regarding mechanical behaviour, durability, and ease of construction. In order to study the influence of combining the two types of tendons in PCSBs for high-speed railways, Finite Element models of a benchmark case with different proportions of internal and external prestressing tendons have been analysed. Static and dynamic load models representing the actions of high-speed trains circulating over the bridge have been implemented. The results of this research allow proposing new design recommendations regarding the combination of internal bonded and external prestressing tendons in PCSB decks for High-Speed railway lines. |
