Abstrakt:

The world is currently facing a population explosion and numerous problems related to aspects such as energy, water, food, CO2, and natural resources. Fortunately, however, oceans cover 70% of the Earth’s surface and have tremendous potential and a major influence on the global environment and human sustainability. The mega floating city “Green Float” is a new conceptual model for an environmentally friendly island city and is under development by Shimizu Corporation, Japan. The Green Float concept embodies two areas of innovation, namely, “green” innovation and “float” innovation. Locating Green Float at a low latitude near the Equator minimizes the float risk represented mainly by wave heights and strong winds and maximizes the green potential such as renewable energy.
