This paper describes the design and construction of the roof and is the third of a set of three on the London 2012 Olympic stadium [1,2]. A key message is the successful delivery of the complex roof with significant engineering and construction challenges through close collaboration between designers and builders operating as one team. The paper describes that key design drivers for the roof were to attenuate wind track and field level wind [3], to offer support for the sports lights and to offer support for the lighting and theatrical stage set of the opening and closing ceremonies. |
