Rockfall galleries to protect infrastructure such as roads and railways against rockfall and avalanches have been used for several decades. In recent years, protection system using flexible ring net barriers have become state of the art mitigation measures against rockfall. In a novel approach, the same high tensile ring nets have been used to form a gallery like rockfall protection shed. The paper presents analytical solutions and planning tools to a given rockfall problem using different software as well as details of design and installation of gallery protection nets. |
