This paper focuses on the investigation of torsional behaviour of wide and multi-cell box girders with corrugated steel webs by means of theoretical and numerical analyses. Based on the pure torsion theory of thin-walled structures, the theoretical formula for calculating the elastic torsional rigidity of multi-cell box girders with corrugated steel webs was derived. Then, a parametric analysis was carried out using the elastic finite element analysis method to investigate the effect of the corrugation profile, thickness of corrugated web and concrete slabs, the height and width of composite girder on the torsional rigidity of multi-cell box girders with corrugated steel webs. It is found that the torsional rigidity of multi-cell box girders with corrugated steel webs can be greatly improved by proper increase of web thickness and girder height. Finally, a revised formula for calculating the torsional rigidity was proposed, which can provide a reference for the design of torsional behaviour on multi-cell box girders with corrugated steel webs. |
