One of the characteristics of the damage by the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake is that many power poles in service on viaducts of Tohoku -Shinkansen have collapsed. The damage of power poles has become the new risk factor threatening the safety of Shinkansen. Normally, power poles are maintained on the premise that will be rebuilt in the future. However it takes a lot of time and cost to rebuild. Since earthquake countermeasures must be implemented promptly, measures that can be advanced quickly and economically while utilizing power poles is needed. Developed measure is to remodel the prestressed concrete(PC) structure to the reinforced concrete(RC) structure by cutting PC wires inside the power pole and add a steel tube with rebar to the power pole. Reinforced power pole has excellent deformation performance. Even if earthquakes that are supposed by the latest design occur, the power pole will not collapse and will be kept within tolerance even if it deforms. |
