Despite footbridge design has become the pursuit of the amazing, simple and common footbridges can also be felt as part of the city, important places for people. There is no need to exalt footbridge design, in most cases their overwhelming beauty depends more on the people disposition than on design circumstances. Indeed, some unexpected facts can make people feel that one footbridge can be part of their personal history and when this happens usually design becomes secondary. Moreover, despite footbridge design comes from a selected group of professionals, and it is seen as an unattainable goal for common people, it has become the entertainment of many. Therefore, will it be possible to take into account common people in footbridge design? Contemporary artists provide a lot of answers to take into account on footbridge design. Mariane Vitale, Francis Alÿs, Ai Weiwei and Cai Guo Qiang works are some examples of how people can interact in footbridges, creating a different concept of what we call amazing. Simple design and user interaction grants the design its full sense. |
