Abstrakt:

The Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) is a proposed 32km sea-crossing bridge at the mouth of Manila Bay, Philippines. It comprises land viaducts, 30km of marine viaduct and two cable-stayed navigation bridges of 400m and 900m spans. The bridge has to cater for extreme conditions of deep water, seismicity, typhoons and ship impact. These have the biggest influence on the foundation design. The paper will describe the development of the foundation design against ship impact and the seismic lateral force resisting system of the cable stayed bridges and the marine viaduct. The cable stayed bridges’ towers are supported by caisson foundation, and viscous dampers are used to dissipate the energy during 2500-year return period design earthquakes. The marine viaduct deck is seismically isolated by friction pendulum bearings and supported by piled foundation.
