The Danish Road Directorate is involved in developing applications for new concrete technology in bridges. Two bridges in the north of Jutland have been constructed using high performance concrete (HPC) with a compressive strength of 75 N/mm². This is 50% higher than the maximum strength covered by the Danish Code for Structural Use of Concrete. HPC is highly impervious to the penetration of water and chlorides and, thus, has the advantage of high durability. |
