The Traversina Footbridge had to overcome some typical obstacles for alpine structures - a remote site with difficult access, very restrictive economic constraints, and a short construction period. In many respects, design and construction were taken to their limits through the use of unconventional methods. The bridge consists of a very light space-truss system with panelled side rails acting as stiffening girders. The materials used for its construction are predominantly larch wood and non-corrosive steel cables. |
