Abstrakt:

Toyota Stadium is one of many revitalisation projects recently constructed in central Japan. This 45 000-seater stadium has the capacity to host world class football, rugby, and American football games as well as various other events. Its form was designed to provide optimal conditions for both spectators and players. Stand structures are divided into four independent structures. The main stands located at the east and west are taller to accommodate the maximum amount of people with prime viewing positions. The north and south are lower to allow sunlight and wind into the stadium. A 40 000 mm³ roof is suspended on four large masts over the stadium. Two keel trusses span along the roof interface provide the supports of the retractable roof and movable screen. The large retractable roof has an air-inflated membrane mechanism spanned between the two keel trusses, allowing flexible control over the outside exposure of the stadium.
